M. N. Reddi
M.N.Reddi, IPS, is a very senior police officer of India, with long experience in traffic policing, traffic management and road safety. He has an M.A. and an M.Phil in sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and has graduated as an officer of the elite Indian Police Service from the National Police Academy. In his 24 years of service, he has held charge of various executive police positions, but a majority of it was as DCP,Traffic and Addl C.P., Traffic of Bangalore city apart from being the regional traffic and road safety head and being district police chief. He also worked as the Fire and Emergency Services chief of Karnataka state. He conceptualized and initiated the implementation of USD 80 mil K-SAFE 2010 (Karnataka State Accelerated Fire and Emergency Services Improvement Project 2010) and USD 87.5 mil B-TRAC 2010(Bangalore Traffic Improvement Project 2010). The latter aims to improve the city traffic through the implementation of a spectrum of ITS measures with public transport integration. He has attended as an invitee and presenter, many international conferences on traffic management and road safety. He brought out a report entitled “Road Safety in Developing Countries- A case of Bangalore city”, during a sabbatical with the Transport Research Laboratory, UK. His professional interests include traffic management, road safety, fire and rescue, disaster management and police computerization. He is a recipient of the prestigious President’s Police Medal for meritorious service.
