SMART Conference Participants

Aileen Carrigan completed a Master in Urban Planning degree, with a concentration in Transportation Planning, at Harvard's Graduate School of Design this June. She first became interested in transportation planning, and particularly non-motorized transport, while volunteering with the Bicycling Empowerment Network in Cape Town in the fall of 2004. Having worked previously as a mechanical engineer designing wheelchairs, Aileen is also keenly interested in universal accessibility. Starting in late July, she will be living in Johannesburg for a year, working with the city on their new Rea Vaya BRT system.
