Avik studies how the environment in which one lives, works, rides, and drives can bring out the best (or the worst) in people. He is particularly interested in the design of land use patterns and transportation infrastructures that will facilitate healthy, environmentally responsible lifestyles. Currently a Ph.D. Candidate in the School of Natural Resources and Environment at the University of Michigan, Avik is planning to complete his degree in 2009.
